Perhaps our own local paper
the 'Gloucestershire Echo' could start giving a bit of
credit and coverage to what the skittlers of
Cheltenham do for their local charities. With more members
that play than Cheltenham Town supporters, more members than
attend any Rugby match in Gloucestershire apart from
Gloucester, with more members than all players that play
five a side football at Bentham, more members that play
skittles than people who watch Cheltenham play cricket. Come
on Echo give a credit where credits due .....coverage
please.
The
fixtures for the coming season are now on the web site
Did you
know that the first reference to a skittle alley in
Cheltenham was in 1768 situated in Albion Street
at the rear of Marks and Spencer.
While on the
subject of oldie things and I'm not talking about the
committee...the league is trying to complete its history and
is looking for old fixture books and team photographs from
the 1950's or even the 1940's as below, they will be
returned after being copied....so look in Grand
dads cupboards and draws please. contact
